For some fun look at how most went into mourning when the Pens lost the 2004 lottery, and to make it worse the Caps moved way up to win it. One of my favorites:

You do realize that they'll probably land Crosby as well.

Though some got it right:

Chancellor Vitale:
To all those who were more interested in finishing 30th than finishing with wins, I rest my case. The odds are not great, no matter how you analyze it. Now for the kicker: because conventional wisdom is almost always wrong, it could very easily be the case that Malkin turns out to be a better player than Ovechkin in a year's time.

or this bright, and yet so modest, guy:

Jaded-Fan:
Am I the only one not so upset? . . .This is exactly why I was sweating out finishing last, imagine being Chicago right now who just missed and now has the booby prize of picking for a bunch of so-so players compared to the top two?
Ovechkin is one to get excited about, but any other year Malkin would be very close . . . and is a year younger, his upside may be greater than Ovechkin from what I read, Ovechkin you know what you are getting, Malkin's upside I have read described as 'scary'. Lose the season and we have a coin flip for Crosby. Sure, I would have loved to win ovechkin but I am not to the jumping off bridges stage . . . things are good, and our core is much better then the Cap's core I think . . .be happy, you get Malkin, who very well may turn out to be the same or better than Ovechkin.
