I do think less of Weber, partly because of his lackluster play as an on ice leader last year. I do think it is telling that he talked about how stressful last summer was and also this summer. I do think it showed.
For all those saying Weber should have been re-signed 2 summers ago, when we could have first extended his contract--- his mother died that summer. Are you really criticizing Poile for backing off and respecting that and Webers desire to not talk about it that season.
And then last summer Weber changed agent around a month before July 1st. (as I recall) And I remember reports that Poile couldn't get his agent to return his calls. I think that is a large reason why it went to team arbitration.
Do I think Poile has mishandled a lot of this with Weber and Suter? Yes
Do I think Weber knew exactly the amount of $ that Philly offered him? Yes
Do I think he is trying to play the "gee , I don't know, my agent handles everything angle so I'm perceived as a nice guy." Yes... Do I have more respect for him? No, a lot less.
If you're really counting on the agent and want to be oblivious---- good luck with managing your $... you're a sheep waiting to be fleeced
If he steps it up and is really the C this year and takes the team on his back, I'll be very happy. Maybe without robin hanging around he'll reach out to his team mates.
