After spending some time on various forums, I realized the pro shop jerseys are all indo-edge, so I set out searching for a team-issued authentic. I eventually found a reputable guy confirmed by other buyers who has several team-issued Preds jerseys of the current style. My dilemma is as follows:
• He has a 58G Rinne team-issued jersey with full authentic twill stitching (effectively the exact jersey Peks wears on the ice); asking price is $500
• He has one blank team-issued home jersey that's a 58 for $250
• He has three blank team-issued away jerseys that are 54 (2) and 56 (1)
My ideal choice would be a home Erat jersey, but the issue is that a 54 is probably my best size. That said, I've heard the difference between a 54 and a 58 in the Edge 2.0 is pretty marginal. Does the "G" at the end of 58G imply that it's a goalie cut jersey? (i.e. totally huge) Regardless, $500 is a lot, no way I'd pay more than $400.
I think I'm leaning towards buying the 58 home jersey and sending it to IceJerseys to get the authentic Erat customization. Does anyone else have customization recommendations? I don't mind paying more, just want it done right.
Long rambling post; just looking for general advice here. If you know of others selling team-issued home jerseys, let me know.
It all depends what you really want ... which then drives pricing. Does it have to be a home, Erat, gold? Can it be road, Erat, white (current)? Erat, previous style? Any player, home, current? It's your jersey and money .... what are your must have criteria and what are you willing to compromise on?
The blanks you've found are $250 + customization and shipping ... so $300-350ish conservative guess. 08-09 and 09-10 Erat gamers are currently on sale for $225 plus shipping. Lower end gamers from 11-12 start in the $450-$500 range plus shipping (Hillen, Mueller, Klein).
G is goalie cut ... a couple of inches difference in sleeve and body width, shorter sleeves than a regular cut jersey. I have a couple of them and they are beyond roomy. I wore one through Gaylord's Ice over a thick down coat and it was still loose.
Most places will probably restock their authentics around the beginning of the season if you choose to wait for a home authentic blank ... but those will probably be at full price ($300is) and a chance that they are the Indo shirts.
If you choose to wait even longer, Meigray runs two sales per year and the 11-12 gamers might go on sale at their holiday sale ... definitely will next July (prob 25% off). If you watch their clearance section they get a lot of team purchased shirts that weren't customized for a player ... but I don't expect to see any of the current styles there for another couple of years.
If you need size comparison pics, let me know. I have one Reebok goalie cut, one SP goalie cut, and several edge 2.0 in 58 and 58+ ... maybe a 56 in there as well.
