Malkin is tied for fourth-best forward and Phaneuf is tied for fifth-best defenceman. Pittsburgh was deep on F and I was deep on D. The upgrade to Kessel is the added incentive to Grabovski, 1st and Blacker. Then when you consider that Vokoun is 36 and will be 80-82 OVR after two seasons, it's fair all around.

[91-C] Evgeni Malkin >> [88-D] Dion Phaneuf
[87-G] Tomas Vokoun < [86-R] Phil Kessel
[84-R] James Neal >> [82-C] Mikhail Grabovski
5th 2013 Pittsburgh < D Jesse Blacker (not really a difference maker, since hes a 2nd tier prospect)
1st 2014 Toronto (gonna be mid to late)

This deal is so one sided it isn't even funny. I'd like to see any other GM in this league agree this is fair.
