Theres the fundamental problem with the league. In the perfect world, a player gets drafted, goes through the teams minor league system, makes the big team eventually and matures into a role on the team.

Teams like ours almost seem to be at a disadvantage if a player breaks out. If our minor league system is successful, it should translate into a successful franchise, not making the choice of which player to trade away. Developing players is now almost a pointless art.

And everyone knows the cause of the problems. Money, trade deadline too late encouraging fire sales, and hockey being played where there is no ice on the ground outside. And money.

Its sad, but a little impressive that Edmonton has survived this long.
