Agree, hence, someone didn't advise him properly when he was making his decision when he was 17.....

But we'll never know for sure, if he would of flourished in the Q as well. Although the Q "should" of been his priority.

The reason I say this, it's because Matheson is also a true offensive-D. He had problems adjusting at first in the USHL, then, found his guear and still showed good enough skill sets to be picked in the 1st round.
