Ruf was gunning for the triple crown in AA as he easily had the lead in HR's by a lot and only one player was anywhere near him in RBI's but he ended up 2nd in the league for average since the player in front of him got called up to AAA. Plus Reading was trying to make the playoffs, series starts tomorrow with Friday's game being shown on Milb.tv So if Reading doesn't advance he could be up with the phils next week.

He is not going to the AFL again, he's going to the Venezuela Winter league.
The Phils are sending to the AFL; 3B: Cody Asche; C: Tommy Joseph; OF: Zach Collier along with pitchers, Tyler Knigge, Jay Johnson, Colby Shreve, and Kyle Simon. The current manager in Reading will be their coach.
Collier is the former 1st round pick from the '08 draft (34th overall), he should be Reading bound next season after a solid year in Clearwater. Will be interesting to see if he turns into anything down road as the '08 draft has already yielded returns via trades and call ups. (Vance Worley, Tyler Cloyd, Michael Stutes, Michael Schwimer, B.J. Rosenberg have all appeared in games for the phils, Anthony Gose, Jarred Cosart and Jason Knapp were used in the Roy Oswalt, Hunter Pence and Cliff Lee trade) plus they have several picks from that draft that are still in the system, Trevor May, Jonathan Pettibone, Zack Collier, Michael Cisco, Julio Rodriguez, Anthony Hewitt, Steve Susdorf, Colby Shreve, Jim Murphy, Cody Overbeck, as a couple of them should see time with the phils over the next few years.
Asche ripped up in High A this year with Clearwater and after a slow start in Reading he really turned it on. The top of the order with Tyson Gillies, Cody Asche and Darin Ruf did some damage to opposing pitchers, will be interesting to see what each can do in majors down the road.
I know they are working on the swing of Tommy Joseph, so getting the extra work in should be good for him.
Knigge had a big year in a closer role while in Clearwater and later on in Reading. Throws some heat, put up impressive numbers in High A.
Simon who they got in the Thome trade has done a great job in Reading's bullpen, so good to see him get some extra work.
