How did you first become a NYR fan?

Born into a family (and by family I mean my dad) of New York Ranger fans. Actually, my mom is from South Jersey, as am I, and turns into a fairly big Flyer fan during the playoffs. I was even given this little Flyers hockey stick when I was a toddler
. However, as it will be with my future son, it was simply not an option for my dad for me to root for anybody else. Thank god for that. He tried so hard to get me into the Rangers in 1994, but alas, I was a 6 year old with a very short attention span. My real introduction to Ranger hockey was the 1996-97 playoff run. I remember watching every one of those games with my dad and the rest is history. I think that was the same year that I really picked up a hockey stick for the first time and it quickly became my favorite sport, so following the Rangers naturally followed.
Doesn't hurt that I absolutely love the city, and will be promptly looking for jobs there after I'm done law school in 3 years.
