I just honestly don't see how one could value Satan so high. Sure, he's a fine player and all but no way in the world is he worth this much to a team. Trading an enforcer for two high scoring prospects, one of which was taken as a steal in the middle of last year's first round, is just perposterous.

I'd be surprised to see Satan fetch a return of Parise and Berglund alone much less with Scott Gomez added to the equation.
I disagree. I think that you underrate Satan.

You might argue that guys like Kovalev, Bure and Jagr have been moved for very little in salary dumps. However, this situation is different. Unlike the three aforementioned players, Satan is not making an obscene amount (or about to make an obscene amount in Kovalev's case) for a player of his caliber. He has a solid defensive game and has developed into a better playmaker, while retaining his excellent scoring abilities. He is virtually guaranteed 30 goals a year, and could approach 40 goals on a team with more talent than the weak Sabres teams.

Two high scoring prospects? Sure they can score in levels lower than the NHL, but they have proven little at the NHL level. Sure, Parise could turn out to be a steal, but he hasn't played a single NHL game and at his size, he is far from a guaranteed NHLer. And Berglund has proven little in his brief NHL stints. Prospects are great, but I think people lean a little too much into the whole potential thing. Not very many prospects actually make the NHL - even so-called "bluechip prospects" miss.

That said, I think this deal is doable. The Devils need goal scoring badly and might be interested in acquiring an enforcer like Boulton, seeing as McKenzie is gone. And I think that the Sabres would consider doing this, seeing as they'd save a fair bit of money, get a couple solid prospects and a pretty talented center in Scotty Gomez.
