CBA Issues Preventing Young RFAs from Re-Signing

http://iphone.tsn.ca/mobile/2012/09/...der_090512.mp4

The upshot of this video is Bob McKenzie stating that players such as P.K. Subban, John Carlson, Michael Del Zotto, Evander Kane, Jamie Benn, Dmitry Kulikov, Ryan O'Reilly and Tyler Ennis are still unsigned because of the dragging CBA negotiations. The players are likely seeking deals similar to Jordan Eberle and Jeff Skinner (Long term, good money) or a deal like Matt Duchene's (Maybe lesser money but just 2 years) whereas the teams are driving a hard bargain and offering long-term deals for less money. McKenzkie states that when the NHL and NHLPA get past core monetary issues, one of the main issues certain GMs want pushed (and they showed a pic of Brian Burke!) is a drag on 2nd contracts for young players. So the players are playing a game of chicken, in a sense, passing on large current offers in the off-chance that the CBA doesn't address this issue, but McKenzie also believes some teams have broken off negotiations while waiting for the CBA to be resolved.

This might be old news to some, but given the amount of "Are you surprised Tyler Ennis hasn't signed yet?" "Why is Jamie Benn unsigned?" etc. etc. threads around these boards, I thought it was important to answer these questions. Give it a listen.
