Predators in the World Championships

World Championship-bound: The Predators will have at least five players participating in the World Championships in Riga, Latvia, beginning Friday.

Forward Scott Hartnell and defenseman Dan Hamhuis will play for Canada, forward Martin Erat for the Czech Republic, and forward Adam Hall and defenseman Ryan Suter for the United States.

Four other Predators Canadian forwards Paul Kariya, Sullivan and Walker, as well as U.S. defenseman Mark Eaton were asked to play for their respective nations but turned down the offers.

"David (Poile) asked me about it,'' Kariya said. "But it's been a long year. It's time to take a break.''

Defenseman Marek Zidlicky said he's giving some consideration to playing for the Czech team, but is concerned about his shoulder, separated in an injury March 25, still not being 100 percent.
