Ryder is one of the most frustrating players to have because when he's not scoring goals, he's a nuisance to the team on the ice. But still, you have to play him because you never know when he might score...
I don't care about his defense, 'cause that's not what he's paid to do well. It's his play from the neutral zone to the offensive zone that frustrates me. He keeps the puck way, way too long. He's a turnover machine! He destroys his teammates' effort way too often and in such a stupid and sometimes selfish manner. He's trying to deke everyone with the same lame move over and over, and it works 10% of the time. I don't know if it's a bad habit he picked up in Sweden playing in an inferior league... but he seems to think he can go end to end and deke everyone now.
He needs to learn to give the puck to his teammates, then put himself in position to do what he does best: score.
I hate what he did yesterday in overtime, but I wouldn't dare trade him unless the return was very very good.
