As you know, goaltending is the most important position. I believe the Thrashers would have made the playoffs if Lehtonen hadn't been injured or if they had had a capable backup. Atlanta scored more goals than the Habs but gave up a lot more.

I can't calculate how many more points the Lightning would have had if they didn't have to rely on Grahame and Burke. They were good enough to come in first and win the Cup in 2004 and they polished off the Habs in four games that year. This at least implies that their forwards and defensemen are better.
