Not saying it wasn't possible for him to never develop enough to be a regular but that recipe was only going to see one result and it's unfortunate for him right now. That's a big blow in the kid's universe right now.
I agree it must certainly be disappointing without a doubt. But I dont believe Spott would not play him to sabotage him. He evidently had his reasons, whether that was a heightened expectation of what he was to become which never amounted to that, or whatever it may be.
The good news is he'll see some ice time.
