Of course, it seemed better at the time - if not slanted in Winnipeg's favour. Both Tverdovsky and Kilger were considered to be stars in the making.

That was typical of the 1990s, I find. For some reason, a large part of the prospects who were supposed to become the faces of the league just... didn't.
