They're catering to everything the NHL players want. A full opt out clause, money, a competitive league, a place where everyone else will be playing, etc.

They're trying to capitalize on the lockout. I don't mean they're trying to attract them in the sense that they're trying to take them for good, but just trying to take them for however long the lockout is.

It's a purely beneficial situation for the KHL.
