This is a tough incident to assess, but no "rules" were broken. There wasn't a charge, no jumping (although he did lift up with his calfs after making contact), middle of the shoulder/elbow contact. On the other hand, it was a head shot and many people are against those no matter how "clean" it was.

Personally, I think as long as it is within the rules it's fair game. The last thing I want to see is the NHL turning into a "penalty for hitting too hard" kind of league just because guys have not learned to keep their head up. The Lindros', Kariya's, Michalek's, and Umberger's needed to understand this: GET YOUR ****ING HEAD UP!!!

San Jose did a nice job of sticking to their game plan and not running around looking for revenge; and unfortunately for the Oilers, this didn't get SJ off their game, nor did it get the Oilers any momentum.

Eagerly awaiting tonight's match-up!
