Ovechkin was the best player in the world. Him putting up a point/game and less than half a goal/game in the KHL is not him being even close to "back."
The difference is Malkin and Ovie have jumped straight in without any training camp or previous (recent) experience with their teams. I doubt either of them is completely up to speed yet.
