Bertuzzi is the worst forward in Detroit's regular lineup. His primary contribution is in the SHOOTOUT, and the only time he scores points is when he plays with Datsyuk. If he were played on the third line with no PP time, he'd score about 15 points and be a huge liability defensively.
At least Emmerton can play some defense and kill penalties.
Paying $2m for a shootout specialist is insane. I'd rather pay $5m-$6m for a legitimate top-six forward. At least that way we're getting someone who actually helps win EVERY game, not just the ones that go 65 minutes. The fact that Holland picked Bertuzzi over Hudler baffles me; Hudler was FAR more valuable to the team, $4m/4yr for Hudler is a much better deal than $2m/2yr for Bertuzzi.
