He was also pretty solid defensively in playing 23:45 per game in the 2012 playoffs for Dale Hunter's defensive-minded team.

I think part of the reason Green looked so bad on occasion in previous playoffs was that Washington's run and gun team didn't give him any support. Coffey was at his best in the playoffs when he had defensively responsible Jari Kurri to cover for him and clutch goaltending from Grant Fuhr to back him up. Washington didn't have any forwards like that and their goaltending has been a revolving door.
