Can a trade still go down?

Ok I apologize if this has been discussed already.

My question is since the players are locked out from the league, can an NHL franchise trade a players contract while a lockout is in effect and if not can they trade AHL players who are not locked out? How about just draft picks?

Reason I ask is I am a Rangers fan and we recently traded away our First Round Draft Pick in the Rick Nash trade. I am fine with that obviously, but with 2013 seeming to be a nice draft, I was hoping Slats would trade for another first rounder this year. If the league is locked out the entire year (which I pessimistically expect) I was curious if the Rangers could still try and acquire a draft pick with a player or would they have to use draft picks/AHL/ECHL etc players or could they still trade NHL contracts.

Thank you in advance for your help. Again, I apologize if this has been discussed already.

If you KNOW the answer, please respond. If you THINK you MIGHT know the answer, hold off and wait for someone to respond with a definate answer. Thank you.

(not trying to sound like a jerk. Just realized that might come off that way. I am just trying to make this a definate answer and not something I am still left scratching my head at).
