He can't make it any worse than it has been.
There are several problems with that beyond the question of whether he can work as a coach for the Bruins and still draw his player salary.
- Being near his kids (and his parents) has obviously been important to him in his recovery, and he has said on Twitter that he has a girlfriend now. If he moves back to Boston, he loses that close support.
- Can he travel on a regular basis? It's a grueling schedule; is he healthy enough to deal with it?
- Coaching former teammates isn't easy. He wouldn't be "one of the guys" anymore, and he's reportedly still close to a lot of the Bruins players. Could he deal with that emotionally?
