I'd like to see some kind of modified Larry Bird clause, where you can sign FA's for 5-7 years max, but can re-sign your own players as long as you want (or at least a longer term than standard FA's.) That way, players are more likely to stay with the home town team, or at the very least agree to some kind of sign-and-trade so teams aren't left with nothing.
