By removing the burial, you level the playing field. If you make a mistake, you gotta live with it. Don't want to pay an ECHL caliber 5 mil against the cap? Don't hand an ECHL caliber 5 mil a year.
So far the teams that have had to deal with mistakes are big markets ,, Small markets have to spend there money wisely and dont get involved in many Huet/Redden mistakes

How is it fair for an NHL team to have no means to escape a player who gets paid and then just falls off?

Huet was NHL talent when he signed with Hawks ,, 2yrs later he couldn't stop a puck if his life depended on it
