Please, if Spezza had a last name like Spezzique or Le Spezza, Montreal would be all over him like a dirty diaper. Fact of the matter is that because he isn't French, there's no way they go after him. After all, Montreal is the same town in which a TVA reporter said to Saku that because he's the captain of Montreal, he should be speaking French.

Montreal has been spoiled by great hockey players in the past. And they've also run great hockey players out of town. What Gainey needs to do is build the best possible team he can build. And I'm willing to bet that if Gainey had an opportunity to acquire Spezza, he'd do so at the drop of a dime. For all of the "flaws" that Spezza has (and if you listen to most Sens fans, anyone not named Alfredsson has flaws), he has talent and ability that you just can't teach or coach. He's also a coachable player and he's someone who doesn't cause headaches in the locker room (Alexei Kovalev anyone?). You're right though, Montreal would just be horrible place for Spezza. What a joke. Only in Montreal though, only in Montreal.
