well i only watched one game so far, so its hardly a big sample but hes pretty raw. his style of play from the game and the parts of the hitman games ive watched is that hes a laymans mix of patrik berglund and paul stasnty - both in terms of style of play and how he skates. hes skating in mud compared to everyone else, but he has very soft hands and great awareness of everyone around him. the lack of speed has his brain going very fast about finding his passing options, and when he passes they are right on the money. very skilled. very slow. he struggled to keep the pace, but i imagine he will adjust in time and find a way to make it work.

both he an welsh really looked like they werent quite up to speed yet. the experienced ahl'ers like terry, boychuk, dalpe, samson, bowman - those guys were aggressive and comfortable. welsh at first look was a disappointment. much like rask with much less skill. in the third period he started clicking a bit better, and showed some signs. neither of these two looked like guys ready to challenge for a third line center spot in the nhl yet. still hardly convinced welsh is a center.
