The Avs had a good run for a number of years before Lacroix made bad decisions and they burned out.
Interestingly, look up Sam Pollock's moves in the late 1970s. By then he had completely lost his touch and by the early 1980s, shortly after their run of four Cups, the Habs were markedly weaker because of his poor drafts. For example, making Danny Geoffrion and Robin Sadler first round picks was as pathetic as Houle's.
