If Toronto absolutely hits the wall the way Boston did when they traded Ray Bourque, I can see him leaving at the deadline in a couple years or so. Mats gets a shot at the cup by going to a contender (the way the bruins traded bourque to colorado) in the twilight of his career while the leafs look for any possible youthful assets they can get in return
But I think Sundin has at least a couple more years before he hits the twilight of his career. Correct me if I'm wrong but Bourque was 38 or 39 when he was traded. Sundin would have to be pretty close to the end as well if and when the time comes.
Note: I'm not comparing Sundin to bourque in terms of who the better player is. But they are both similar in the fact that they mean or meant a lot to their respective franchises.
