Myths about UFA's.

Myth : Gainey and Carbo know Arnott.

Fact(stolen from another board):

Actually, that's not the case. Gainey stepped down as GM several months before the deadline deal that brought Arnott from New Jersey; Armstrong pulled the trigger on that one. Gainey likely had some input, as he was still with the organisation in a consulting role. By the time the Arnott suited up for his first full season as a Star, Gainey was effectively retired.

Carbo was still with the Habs as an assistant to Therrien when Arnott joined the Stars. He had a front office job when he returned to Dallas, and had little to do with the day-to-day running of the team. He and Arnott overlapped by two and a half years in Dallas, excluding the lockout.

That said, both Carbonneau and Gainey still have connections with the Dallas organisation, so they're sure to know what kind of guy Arnott is and if he's the kind of guy they want on the Habs

Any other "myths" floating out there concerning this year's crop of UFA's?
