This team just does not know how to play thorugh injuries...this was the case during the season as well and in past years. Mind you, it's never a simple injury with this team like a torn ACL, or a broken arm. It's always someone almost losing an eye (Koivu), or someone's arm getting sliced off (Audette), or Brian Savage almost becoming paralyzed, or Macleary almost dying from a shot to the throat. It's always stuff that has to make headlines worldwide.
IMO you're being much too hard on the team. Play through injuries? Who was left at center after Koivu went down? Gainey was so desperate he even inserted Bégin. Ribeiro couldn't lift his line for the second straight playoff season. Plekanec did fine, and his line was the best. Bonk played with non-scorers. Meanwhile, Laviolette had Brind'Amour and Staal coming on one shift after the other.
