Latendress had alot of trouble in the Q last year. His lack on consistency was reported many times in articles. The team had a better record withouth *him. And he ended up getting stripped of his "A" late in the season.
Anybody who thinks this means he was ready to play in the NHL only has the training camp in head. He was amazing at the camp. Durring the season there was an article where Latendress said he was totaly drained after the camp. He had no energy left altho he did not notice it durring the camp most likely because of the adrenaline (according to him).
If you've watched the first 2 preperatory games at the world juniors this year where he had alot of ice time. I dont think you could not be concerned about his performance. And Sutter was right to limit his ice time afterwards.
there is a good interview from march here (in french)

When asked if he think's he's better after the world juniors he answered
"if you asked me after I would have said no. But now I have to say yes. It was difficult and we all learned alot from Brent Sutter."
-So you appreacite Sutter's work even if he was severe?
"Of course! Brent Sutter is a good coach, he knows how to lead a team. It was really positive"
He also had 10 really tough games when he came back from the world juniors.
He's had a really good second half. He had to fight thru some adversity and more difficult times early in the season and he came out stronger and that's really encouraging.
I think last year showed that altho he looked great at camp in reality he has alot of stuff to work on. I dont know if he'll make the team next year. If he's ready...then I hope so. But there is no doubt in my mind today that he wasnt ready this year.
Oh...and for those who know Ron Fournier from CKAC.
