unless that player is proven as an elite talent.
...and if that player was a proven elite talent, there's no way the other team is going to trade him to you for that package.
You can say whatever you want about Duchene, but he hit
67 pts as a 19 year old
and if you really did the research, you'd know that he was on pace for over 80 pts that season before the wheels fell off on the whole team to end the year.
Using 'their current top line center' to describe Tyler Bozak is a bit misleading, don't you think?
Phaneuf has value to be sure but the part I don't get is why the Avs need to give up a 21 year old with 'boatloads of potential' (on a good contract) to acquire a D-man like Phaneuf when they will most assuredly be able to sign a guy like that through free agency. What's the rush? Are the Avs, 'Phaneuf away from contending'??? Not really.
