New-Look Preds Shine Through First 27 Games

Nashville's leading goal scorer Patric Hornqvist scores against the Winnipeg Jets, Shea Weber's new team.

So far, it looks like trading Shea Weber to the Winnipeg Jets has turned out to be the right decision for the Nashville Predators. While he is playing well in Winnipeg, the Preds seem to be better off without him. They currently sit in first place in the Western Conference with 35 points. Evander Kane (acquired in the Weber trade) has had a fantastic season so far, recording 25 points in 27 games. Sergei Kostitsyn is behind him with 22 points, then Patric Hornqvist has 21 points. It's a three-way tie for fourth place in the Predators scoring race with Martin Erat, Daivd Legwand, and Colin Wilson all tied at 19 points.

The team's new number one defenseman, Zach Bogosian, has been solid with 17 points and a +4 rating. His partner Jonathan Blum is only 2 points behind him and is a +5. Pekka Rinne has been strong in net thus far, with a GAA of 2.26 and a save percentage of .926%
