Most people here if they like one political party just HATE the other political party. They usually don't look at individuals but at the political party.

I came across something today that said people of the same political party tend to be a lot more similar than people of similar races, incomes, education levels, etc. So maybe there's something to it.

What scares me is that politicians and political parties aren't dumb...they probably look to see what issues get people riled up and focus on them at the expense of meaningful ones. Like they frame the conversation and get us going to get votes. Kind of like trolling but on a larger scale.

Now I'm not cynical enough to believe that there's a huge conspiracy out there or that politicians keep us down so they can get votes (like some people think doctors want you to get sick so you buy medicine), but it's funny how I can talk to somebody perfectly fine and then someone brings up abortion and it goes to hell in a handbasket.

Like my girlfriend...we don't talk politics. Kind of weird, but we are kind of on different sides of the fence. We get along great otherwise, but if we talked politics, it would drive us apart.

Kind of an artificial division, right? But that keeps people interested. If you don't care about something, you don't care. But if someone can convince you it's life or death, or you get to pick a side, then you get invested. And some people get carried away with that.
I can't even begin to tell you how much sense that makes..

You pretty much summed it all up, I'm not big on the whole conspiracy ****. It's just a part of life.
