Toronto is a big event town, if there is no buzz or media presence for something people don't show up. Even a couple years ago when the world jr's were in Buffalo there were bus groups from Toronto that went down- and were sold out, I looked into going on a bus and had to drive because the bus' were sold out.
I grew up in Mississauga, and no one ever talked about the jr. team, even though I played hockey in rink across the street. it was all leafs, why follow 2nd tier when leafs are on TV. This was back when Don Cherry owned the team, and he was always at our rink talking to the kids, talking about his team, no one cared.
I know Oshawa does well, but it is much more of a blue collar town and has more of an identity of being its own city (even though it is part of GTA) which is why they probably support the generals more than Brampton/Mississauga do there jr teams.
