There's no way the Canadiens would pursue McCabe.

He's very similar to Sheldon Souray. McCabe is better offensively, worse defensively (but smiliar in style) and very undisciplined.

I blame some of the discipline issues on Pat Quinn. I think as a team the Maple Leafs were prone to many stupid penalties because Quinn had no accountability. Every penalty called against the Leafs he'd be moaning and groaning at the officials and would talk after the game about the "mystersious calls."

So when a player like McCabe took a dumb penalty, he always was reassure the ref made a bad call. So with good coaching, and a few benching for dumb penalties, this part of his game could be fixed.

However, he simply wouldn't address a need on the team. He's similar to what we got already in Souray, and the Habs need a better defensive defenseman. McCabe clearly isn't that.
