Any college commitment can be broken without any legal ramifications.
Be it verbal or letter of intent, neither is a legally binding contract.

Well, it takes two to honor any commitment.
Kids can change their mind, especially when they decide on something major at 15.

Adam Erne and Brandon Shea had committed to schools at 15, Erne to the school "he had wanted to play for his whole life" and Shea to his father's alma mater.
