I personally try not to, but that seems to be a rare thing, judging by how many folks seem to think that a Thornton acquisition is reasonably doable.
My point was simply to suggest that if he's not available, just come out and say that -
he's not available. Give reasons if you're so inclined. Explain what would motivate a replacement if necessary, but stick to "he's not available". Trying to respond with "he's outside of your price range" in an attempt to imply unavailability while tacitly acknowledging and giving credibility to the idiots who blather about Gretzky every time you deny them their opportunity at baseless speculation will only end in absurd arguments about impossible things AND encourage the fools.
