The ironic thing is we've seen the rise of Staal, Girardi, McDonagh, and Del Zotto and we're still talking about an average prospect defenseman who is nowhere near the caliber of those guys and has been traded.

If you think about the style of Wade Redden when he played, he was soft in an aggressive manner. But the man was a tough SOB when it came to protecting the puck and taking hits to advance the play. It may have even caused his fast drop off the face of the Hockey Earth. Erixon throws snow, and is horrible in this sense, which is something that has a high value in a D.
