I finally got around to watching the Erie Otters/London Knights game that I recorded weeks ago. My thoughts, in case anyone is interested.
I love Chris Tierney. If you look up his stats right now (10 points in 19 games in the OHL as an 18-year-old), you'd be extremely disappointed. But from what I saw it was hardly indicative of his play. He had a primary assist on a nice wrap-around play where another dude banged it home, but he had several zone entries where he'd dispy-doodle around the defenseman and get a shot on goal. Obviously Erie is a poor defensive team, but he's got great hands and seems to be a smart player with decent size and good top-end speed. The thing I most disliked about Tierney is that he seemed to float a lot when the puck wasn't near him. Also, I don't think he got any PP time at all, which was baffling. FWIW, Connor McDavid (2015 eligible phenom) looked like Jesus on skates in the first period, and then the coaches assigned him to Tierney and McDavid was relatively quiet the rest of the game.
I would greatly enjoy having the NHL back.
