Crunch Time in DC

Washingtom must find its stride, and quick. With half the season elapsed the team finds itself fighting for playoff life near the middle of the pack in the eastern conference, despite Ovechkin scoring at a rate that places him in a league of his own. GM Evo was available for comment today regarding just how important the next few weeks are for his team.

"I think a month or two from now playoff bound teams will look back at the season and point to these coming weeks as the time that they put in work and really made that push that put them over the top. We need to take that step to the next level, and quick. We've got a schedule packed with strong teams coming up, we need to make them pay a price for entering our building, and be a menace on the road. There was a team meeting held today, we entered as a good team, and we left a better one. I think lately we've been guilty of chasing the big hit or the fancy goal and not keeping our foot on the pedal when we get ahead. No more, no more. This is crunch time for us, expect to see a desperate team willing to pay the price to win, starting tonight."
