Penguins trade Bobby Dollas for Johan Hedberg. Hedberg was stuck in the AHL thanks to the Sharks depth in goal. At the time, San Jose had Nabokov and Shields along with Kiprusoff picking up a handful of games. Manitoba also had veteran Ken Wregget taking a large share of the starts. The Penguins ended up riding Hedberg to the conference finals, eventually losing to the Devils in 5 games.

Hedberg remained as a starter until 2003, when the Penguins traded him to the Canucks for a 2nd rounder in 2004. The player drafted with that pick?

Goligoski was traded to the Stars in early 2011 for James Neal and Matt Niskanen. So in an indirect, Six Degrees Of Bacon kind of way, Johan Hedberg helped the Penguins land James Neal and Matt Niskanen. Not bad for a goalie who was buried in the minors and didn't see his first NHL start until he was almost 28.
