So unless you're going to convince Bobby Cox or Joe Torre to un-retire, you're going to get a guy who has some baggage if you want experience, and so far that seems to be a priority in Anthopolous' search.
But remember, most managers have learned through adversity. Like teams, they often have to lose before they learn how to win. A guy like Acta - or even Wakamatsu, although he's not my choice - might well bring valuable insight from his previous struggles and be a very different, more effective manager.
