Jim Balsillie wanted to buy the Yotes and move them to Hamilton, Ontario, but didn't want to play by the Old Boys Club rules. He ended up in court and lost. Since then, the league has owned the team. So basically, the team could have moved to a hockey mad area, sold out every night and brought in more money for the league but instead it's been an albatross to the league and the city of Glendale.
