I have him on my roster, but he's by no means a 'lock'.
Ok, just for the moment, let's forget the obvious fact that Rielly's speed and puck rushing makes him an incredibly essential commodity on the big international ice surface and that he will have more room to skate around.

Steve Spott has seen first hand what Rielly can do. Not only this past summer, but the summer before at the Ivan Hlinka when Spott won gold with Rielly as one of his best defenceman at the tournament. Which would explain why Rielly got the invite in the summer over players like Pouliot and Koekkoek despite the short sample size of games he had last season. Prendergast went on record saying Rielly was one of their best defenceman at the summer series (while he was at a game where Rielly had a 5 point night in a 9-1 moose jaw win.)

Add in the fact Rielly is near the top in defenceman scoring in the WHL, the fact that Bob Mckenzie said he was easily the best player on the ice for either team on the ice in the first game of the super series, the fact that Steve Spott said Rielly was great in the series, the fact Rielly hasn't disappointed him in international competition yet and I can pretty much guarentee he is a lock for this team.

Edit: Plus with all the attention and hype he is getting (whether he deserves it or not), it would be almost impossible not to take him.
