The Bisons walked into British California and outshot their hosts 41-19 yet lost 5-2 in a game they once trailed 4-0. I listened to the first period on-line before falling asleep. So all I know is from the summary.

The 1st period was scoreless and the Bisons outshot the 'Birds 15-6, so all seemed well.

The 2nd period saw the Bisons outshoot UBC 16-8. However, UBC scored on 3 of those 8 shots to chase starting goaltender Jesse Deckert from the Bison goal.

After scoring early in the 3rd, UBC allowed the Bisons to again control the 3rd period. The Bisons scored twice (Dane Crowley scored his 4th and Paul Ciarelli his 1st as a Bison) before an empty-netter on a PP sealed the deal for UBC.

OUT OF TOWN SCOREBOARD:

MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS 3
LETHBRIDGE PRONGHORNS 4

The H0rny Ones have done it! Victory at last. This is their finest hour.

The New Kittens on the Block rolled up a 2-0 lead after the 1st period and Lethbridge could have folded their tent. Instead, they outshot MRU 20-10 in the 2nd period and levelled the score. The 3rd period was for all the marbles and Lethbridge was not to be denied on home ice.

Saturday's rematch is the only game available on CanadaWest.tv.

ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS 3
REGINA COUGARS 2

The Banjo-Cats now have too many good results to be taken lightly after their dismal pre-season. The Evil Monkeys were forced to endure a trip to Regina and found themselves down 2-0 on goals from Tyler Henry (7th) and Sanfred King (3rd). The bananas for goals incentive program worked as Primates Rhett Rachinski (2nd) and Jordan Hickmott (11th) tied the game before Kruise Reddick (3rd) scored a PP goal in OT.

The Banjo-Mutts were flattered by their good record thus far, and they really fell back to Earth with a massive thud on Friday night. Jimmy Bubnick and Derek Hulak were both missing from the Sask line-up and this result may show just how little depth they have. Jacob DeSerres was in goal once again for the Bedrock Boys, for the 2nd game in a row. Ryan Holfeld was pulled 5 minutes into the 3rd period, once it was 6-0. Blake Voth saw his first action of the season.
