With modern medicine being the way it is, if the Jackets oversee this properly and spend the right cash, this shouldn't effect him long term. This was the risk of sending him to the WHL to play with Everett; he is definitely a point of emphasis for the opponents, and any chance to hit him is taken.
We've seen some guys overcome serious injuries come back and go on to stellar careers, it just depends on the rehab and such. Yes, he will probably miss an extended amount of time - maybe the rest of the year, but it would be worth it to see him back 100%.
