I would argue that Derick Brassard's issues are as much involved with his being rushed to the NHL, rather than his perennial injuries. Another point I'll argue is that Brassard was noticeably thin when he began skating for the Jackets, and in spite of the fact that he was on a tear as a rookie, may have been doomed due to the fact that he wasn't allowed to grow and develop properly. Plenty of players have had good - borderline great - rookie seasons, and then gone on to do little or nothing (Steve Mason?) for the rest of their careers. Who knows if it was the injuries? Brassard has been generally healthy for the last three years, averaging 75ish games in each.
Time will certainly tell here, but in most cases, with injuries like this, character determines the outcome. Character isn't - and never has been - a question for Ryan Murray.
