With the Brad Richards signing, in 2 years this 6.8 M contract might be a bargain.

And if the Cap keeps on increasing it might not be an issue.
I don't think we can base ourselves on the probability that the cap increases; it is based off league revenues and they can vary a whole lot in 5 years. Actually, the CBA will be up in 5 years!

Well, first I'd rather have Sakic at nearly 7 than Yashin given Sakic's success story in the playoffs and the olympics. He's older, but he would sign for a shorter period of time and will teach a whole lot to our Higgins, Latendresse, Price and cie. Second, these are free agents, what about trades? It's always hard to tell who is available, but what if we can swing a three way deal for Sundin? What if Brendan Morrisson is available? What if Robert Lang is available? These are all "what ifs" but the Yashin thing is a rumor anyway.
