MY opinion: seems good on paper but may not be long-term. Especially the eastern schools: Western Michigan and Miami (OH), the travel will be greater than the majority of CCHA road games. Also other than each other, WMU and MIA lack regional conference rivals. There's also been rumblings of a CCHA 2.0 with some of the current members plus the addition of the western Atlantic Hockey schools like Robert Morris, Niagara, and Mercyhurst that want to increase competitiveness and increase scholarships (which they can't do in a 12 scholarship capped conference) In addition Buffalo, Akron and a cpl other schools have expressed interest in exploring NCAA hockey. St. Cloud State will likely be one of the have-nots of the NCHC and could be interested in a return to the WCHA and regional and local rivals like MSU-Mankato and BSU.
